Former Vice President, Dick Cheney, predicts “Barack Obama’s a one-term president.”
Other Famous predictions by Dick Cheney:
- Deficits don’t matter.
- I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise.
- We will in fact be greeted as liberators.
- We believe he [Saddam] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons.
- In Iraq, a ruthless dictator cultivated weapons of mass destruction and the means to deliver them. He gave support to terrorists, had an established relationship with al Qaeda.
- I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency.
- Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.
- It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.
It’s like shooting fish in a barrel…or friends in the face.
Folks, if Cheney says that it’s going to rain soup, I probably wouldn’t rush to get out my bowl and crackers.
There’s a reason why they call him “dick.”
Just sayin’
and yet....
ReplyDelete"Former Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, met by a thunderous applause of a surprised and adoring crowd."

I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise.
ReplyDeleteUm, last I checked Katrina was NOT an exercise. It was proof that they should have been having exercises on disater relief protocols.
Idiot.
While I agree that "Dick" is aptly named, I do believe Obama is a one-term president.
ReplyDeleteThe hate and invective I've seen spewed by conservatives, Republicans, and general whack-a-loons about this president strikes me as being worse than anything Democrats, liberals or progressives, or left-wing loonies used to say about GW Bush. Or maybe it was just as bad, but Republicans control their message better than Democrats control their message.
No matter what, I agree with Evan Bayh that our system is too filled with "brain-dead partisanship" for any politician to govern effectively anymore.
And to be honest, if Obama's name was Barry Horatio O'Brien, I don't think the hatred would be as bad.
Bill:
ReplyDelete"And to be honest, if Obama's name was Barry Horatio O'Brien, I don't think the hatred would be as bad."
What's the big deal about President Obama's name? First, he didn't choose it. His parents did. Second, they chose it almost 50 years ago. It can't be a reflection of current times in any way. People who think bad of him because of his name, well, that's pretty childish. But yes, that does sum up quite a few Republicans.
Now, making fun of a guy named Dick because he's being such a dick, that's different.
~sigh~
ReplyDelete@Tom -- I meant that despite what people say out loud...despite that the nation elected a black president, racism is still alive and well in America.
ReplyDeleteIf the black President Obama was the white President O'Brien, I don't believe there would be as much invective as is spewed around by the certain segments of right-wingers. They're not just attacking him on his policies (many of which seem depressingly similar to GW Bush's, especially his embrace of the corporate aristocracy).
If Dick were to say that the sun rises in the east, I'd still have to greet the dawn with a compass in hand.
ReplyDelete"There ARE weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."
I agree with Bill. No matter how disliked, even hated, a president was by various members of Congress, never did a congressman shout out an insult at him while he was addressing Congress. Republicans didn't shout at Clinton, and Democrats didn't shout at little George. Decorum demanded better, more respectful public behavior than that-respect for the office and respect for fellow countrymen/women because that fellow was elected by Americans and therefore, at least in public, was treated appropriately.
ReplyDeleteYet, from the day Obama took office, the nine-year-hunt for Anything to get on Clinton and the wrath of his detractors (some still writing books about him long after he left office, like Ann Coulter; I think he rejected her advances at some point because she's made most of her career out of acting like a woman scorned!), paled in comparison to what the right immediately let loose on our Democratically Elected new President, Obama.
I think the Right believes it is acceptable to attack and accuse at such unconscionable levels because President Obama is not a white man. They think the rest of us will give them a pass because, well, of course we will! That's how their world view thinks it is Supposed to be! They can say anything they want and behave anyway they want to a Black man, even if he is our elected leader and the nation's Commander in Chief. He doesn't Really count, because he's not white, and we all know it's true, wink wink, right? (said with sarcasm, so no flaming me, please.)
And those on the Right who know better? They are letting the frothing racists have at it without any move to silence them or even to soften their virulent rhetoric because that racism is benefiting their wallets and continued power grabs. While the nation wrings our hands and fights over what Obama may or may not really be up to, who's paying attention to, say, the reinvented version of Blackwater, Xe, for instance? Or, the continued plotting of The Family with their longterm plan? (Have you read Margaret Atwood's, The Handmaid's Tale? Do. Then read about The Family, and that network "our Sarah" is connected to. Creeeeepy.)
