@ Random Michelle K. I get motion sick easily and had no problems with this movie. He didn't go for the nausea and the 3D glasses are polarized so that doesn't add insult to injury. You could probably watch without the glasses but I would try with first. I was really surprised.
Michelle, I don't know about the motion sickness, I'd have to bow to CASz on that one.
BUT, I would say that this movie is much diminished without 3D. As has been said elsewhere, it's not a gimmick, but an integral part of the movie. It's an immersion experience. And it's like no other 3D I've ever seen, it's astounding.
I saw it in 3D in our local theater. Perhaps it would be very different on a super large screen. I think the main thing was that he didn't go for swooping camera work. It just made you immersed in the world.
BTW my eyes are 2 diopters apart which makes 3D glasses dicy but these worked fine. Can't you get your money back if you leave in the first 5 minutes of the movie? You would know right away.

It's on my list for sure. At the iMax if possible too. Have to check the listings.
ReplyDeleteSo... big screen movies can make me motion sick.
ReplyDeleteIf I watched it without the 3D glasses, and sat in the back of the theater, could I see it without vomiting?

Several people have said that the 3D is handled realistically, as in real life and is not as nausea inducing as other 3D.
ReplyDeleteSo far the only 3D movie I've seen that had to be 3D was the IMAX 3D film of the International Space Station -- you were there.
That said, I've IMAX 3D tickies to Avatar for 3:30pm tomorrow. Despite grading. (grin)

I dunno. I can't see anything in an IMAX theater, because they all make me sick.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really really really hate spending money for a movie, and then not being able to see it all.
