Where I’ve Been All Weekend…

image

…in the shop, making your birdhouses.

The light colored ones are made from sassafras, the reddish colored ones are made from aromatic red cedar, and the dark ones are made from American walnut. Some are simple, and some are fiendishly complex.  As you can see, there is a variety of styles, colors, and accent woods.

There will be more soon.

I need to take pictures of this batch, catalog and price them, before I can put up a post for you to buy them. I’d hoped to have that done today, but it’s not happening.  I’ve been in front of the lathe all day, I’m now tired and hungry. I’m going to eat my dinner and go a watch a movie with my wife.

I’ll take pictures and have a post up tomorrow with these in more detail.

  2. Theres a winter craft market thingie at the old railway depot in Palmer, you'd make a killing with them there. We went last year and were surprised by the variety of locally made stuffs around.

  4. Sassafras! Haven't heard of that in years. My grandmother always used sassafras bark tea to cure what ailed us.

Those are so lovely. I'd love a sassafras one, but can't swing it this year. Maybe next.

  6. When the going gets tough, the tough get going... cutting down vast forests, which drives birds from their homes, in order to make bird houses. Wait, does this sound like some kind of a developer scam to you, too?

Prolific and well crafted. Good combo, good sir.

  9. There's so many things I could do with that comment, Nick. So many.

Instead, I'll go take pictures of birdhouses.
