Mensley, thanks for that. I love chickweed lane, but haven't read it in a long time, and have never seen the Hallmarks all in one place.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to find this. It's a great comic, with some of the best art out there in its format. It can be hit or miss, but returns to "hit" often enough that I keep reading.
ReplyDeleteHe can sometimes stretch a storyline out way past the point of caring for such a format, but the fact that he actually *has* storylines is a plus.
McEldowney cracks me up. It's the expressions on the characters that does it for me - the story line is almost incidental - for me anyway. Perfect example is the expression on Jillete's face in the Hallmarks of Felinity #13, Sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with Mutts, I often find Pat McDonnel's squishy animal rights agenda annoying, but that stupid cat with its stiff little pipe-cleaner arms just plan kills me. Well, that and the squirrels...

You're right about his gift with expressions, I often find myself cracking up at the visuals more often than the words.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's what I love about his Felinity series, he completely captures the weirdness of living with cats and how they seem to go from dignity to goofy to crazy and back again.
