Ooof! I'm full

Usually I cook, but yesterday Becky made lasagna for Father's Day and Beastly made cheesecake.

Tonight Beastly made Ruben sandwiches. I love Rubens. Love. Them. I ate too much.

... and there's still cheesecake.

  1. I don't think it's fair that you have two people to cook for you. I demand a redistribution of resources.

    But, yeah! Where's my Reuben?

  3. I guess you'll have to buy it, Mr. Capitalist. You can get the money to buy it by selling a video of your bizarre singing and dancing routine. It'll be a big hit, I'm sure.

    :P

  4. Sorry, folks, no leftovers. None. Not a bite. I know, I checked. Twice.

  5. I'm thinking Jim has started a polygamist enclave in Wasilla. I'm just saying. ;)

And Nathan - why are you fussing about Reubens when you can take the subway to wherever it is and get one at CARNEGIE DELI! Which has a Reuben fit for a king. Or a polygamist.

  6. Re Polygamist: I'm big on sharing food, not so big on sharing anything else. ;)

  7. My wife can't understand me. I don't like pork chops, but love wonderful sausage (hungarian sausage from Barb 'n Patties, OMG, it's a wonder that it makes it home intact, that I don't rip into it raw, right there in the car), and that I don't like corned beef for St. Patty's day, but just love a well made Reuben.

  8. Steve, I'm similar in taste. Pork Chops meh. I'll eat 'em but I wouldn't go out of my way. Pork sausage? Ohh yeah.

I'm Irish, so I'm required to eat some kind of boiled meat on St. Patty's Day, but I'm not big on it. I think the difference is that corned beef roast used in a boil is much fattier than the lean kosher corned beef on a good New York Deli Reuben.

The best Reuben anywhere? Chick and Ruth's Kosher Deli, Annapolis - though Beastly's are close. Very close.

  9. Meanwhile I've been eating your clam chowder for the past week and a half. I made two gallons and keep wanting more. I don't think it's possible to get sick of the stuff. ;)

  10. MWT, that fills me with much gladness. Strangely, now I want clam chowder. I'm making pizza tonight however, so the chowder will have to wait for a day or so.

  11. Carnegie is fine, but actually, my favorite Ruben comes from a little Greek hole in the wall three blocks from my house.
