I could use a little Global Warming right now
Looking south towards Anchorage from my sunroom window. Yes, that is a dusting of snow on the top of Pioneer Peak this morning. Argh! I am not ready for winter yet.

I hear ya. I'm not ready either, and I think this winter is going to be a bad one.
ReplyDeleteI hate the cold.
I love the cold, despite the fact that it cripples me. Winter in Alaska is the best, no bugs and no dammed tourists. Sunrise on the peak when it's covered in twenty feet of snow is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm just not ready for it yet, I need another two months to finish outside projects. On the other hand, I don't have to mow the friggin' yard three times a week for a while.
I hate the cold with a deep-seated detestation (to use a Wicked reference). Unfortunately, my ancestors homesteaded here in Colorado, where it's, you know, cold in the winter.
ReplyDeleteStupid ancestors.
When I was active, I made sure I was stationed in warm locales such as the Philippines, Hawaii, San Diego...
With the exception of Socal, I was always stationed somewhere cold, Iceland, Maine, Alaska. I kept getting deployed to hot, dusty places, so I guess it balanced out.
ReplyDeleteThe cold makes me hurt, but I can live with that. Heat makes me miserable, with pounding headaches. I can always put on a sweater, screw the heat. Plus, hot places always seem to be full of crazy people who enjoy soccer and have a revolution at least once a month.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Hawaii and San Diego are just rife with soccar and rebellian.
I know what you mean, though. I don't complain about the heat anymore - not after doing both a summer and a winter in the middle east. But I still like heat better than cold. Sweaters make me itch.
Sweater make me warm.
ReplyDeleteSpend some time in Balboa park, there's rebellion afoot there. Hawaii, well, you got me there.
